tl;dr

Taking the time to prepare your model according to the following steps will significantly improve the final results. Note that processing time varies between 1-4 hours.

  1. Install Datasmith. This is a plugin developed by Epic Games and translates your 3D file into a format that can be processed by Palatial

    1. Once installed, Datasmith will appear as a toolbar in your 3D modeling software
  2. Prepare your file. Ensure that materials, plugins, and linked files are all accessible.

  3. Set 3D views. These will be used for navigation in the web stream. To set where users start, preface one of your views with ‘start_’ (ie. ‘start_entryway’)

  4. Export the scene. This can be done using the Datasmith toolbar and will result in a [filename].udatasmith file and [filename]_assets folder. Right click on the assets folder and compress it into a .zip.

  5. Upload files. Upload the .udatasmith file and asset .zip when prompted.
